Questions and answers at today’s House of Representatives Health, Labor, and Welfare Committee.
Today, at the House of Representatives Health, Labor, and Welfare Committee, Yuki Waseda, a member of the Constitutional Democratic Party of Japan, pointed out the need for subsidies for trauma treatment. I was encouraged by her accurate and precise assessment of the necessity of what we are trying to do. Trauma treatment has been a hot topic since it was added to this year's revision of medical fee payments. I hope that the need for subsidies for trauma treatment will be further discussed and that understanding will spread among the Ministry of Health, Labor and Welfare, the nation, and society as a whole. The Q&A session can be viewed here: House of Representatives Internet Deliberations Broadcast. Select Japanese on the top page and click on March 13, 2024, in the calendar search that appears on the right. Click on the Health, Labor and Welfare Committee from the 9 libraries, and then click on Yuki Waseda of the Constitutional Democratic Party from the explanations and questioners (in order of speech). This discussion begins at about 1:01:14 in Yuki Waseda's question. Yuki Waseda's website is Here.

Greetings from the Director
Hello everyone. My name is Jun Nawa, and I have been appointed as the director of Counseling Office VISION. I have decided to open a counseling office focusing on trauma therapy together with Dr. Atsunori Sugimoto of Niigata University. I would like to express my sincere gratitude to all the clients, doctors, prefectural officials, psychologists, colleagues from various professions, and other related parties that I have met so far, as well as to the wonderful Niigata psychologists, Psychologists Kaori Miura and Michio Sorimachi, who have cooperated with us this time. I have worked as a Niigata Prefectural Government employee for over 30 years at prefectural hospitals and child consultation centers. I have been involved in various psychological clinical work in a variety of settings, including the Yukyuso Sanatorium, Shibata Hospital, the Niigata Rheumatism Center, the Niigata Cancer Center Hospital, the Nagaoka Child Consultation Center, and the Mental Health Center, as well as general hospitals, cancer hospitals, child consultation centers, and psychiatric hospitals. I have felt the wonderful growth potential of people in various clinical settings. I have met clients with various problems in various clinical settings. It is truly wonderful and always moving to see every one of them wishing, working hard, little by little discovering their own strengths, finding a path, overcoming difficulties, and changing into vibrant people. Counseling Office VISION wants to help people with complex problems, including the general public. We will help those with complex problems solve them using various techniques. For the general public, we will help with stress management and self-actualization. People can continue to grow forever and ever as long as they wish. Let us help you make the most of your growth potential. A person is born and raised with care but encounters various difficulties, deals with them in various ways each time, and grows up somehow as they overcome crisis situations. Sometimes, the coping behaviors they used in the past remain even when they grow up. As a result of trying hard to protect that person forever, they may continue to behave in a painful way. Sometimes, because of that painful behavior, a person cannot move forward any further. However, by understanding the meaning of this, appreciating and thanking themselves, they can regain the steps that are right for them. Understanding trauma and its effects is very helpful. Of course, if you still don't want to touch on the trauma or remember it, there's no need to force yourself. It may be a good idea to understand the effects of trauma and focus on how to live safely and happily in the present. Each person has different things they want to solve and different ways of solving them. At our office, we respect each person's different ways and help them move in the direction of what they want to be. I believe that in order for people to grow, they need a vision of what they want to be. It is said that what people can imagine can be realized. Of course, not everything can be realized, but while it is possible to achieve the happiness you envision, I believe that it is difficult to realize what you cannot imagine. We want to help each person create the VISION that is right for them so that they can utilize their individuality, demonstrate their strengths, work together, and create a better world. I would like to express my sincere gratitude to all the clients, doctors, colleagues, and other people who have taught me so much. The experience, wisdom, and knowledge that you have all taught me will be passed on to others and help create a wonderful network. Counseling Office VISION aims to help people regain their vision of how they want to be and get back on track. We look forward to working with you. February 28, 2024 Director Jun Nawa

Message from the Representative
I am Sugimoto, the representative of Counseling Office VISION (F.I.W. LLC). As a child psychiatrist, I have been involved in many trauma treatments for abused children and their parents. From that experience, I have keenly felt the high need for trauma treatment and the extreme lack of facilities and personnel that can provide it. In April 2024, I will open the Counseling Office VISION, which specializes in trauma treatment. The director will be Dr. Jun Nawa, Deputy Director (Head of the Psychology Department) of the Niigata Prefectural Mental Health Center, Vice President of the Niigata Prefecture Certified Psychologists Association, Head of the Niigata Trauma Research Group, and Head of the Hokuriku Shinetsu EMDR Study Group. I will be involved in the management of VISION while continuing my clinical work, research, and education at Niigata University. Clients with severe trauma have strong social phobia and are unable to go to work, which makes them financially unable to provide treatment. This makes it difficult to secure medical expenses, resulting in a situation where treatment cannot be provided to those who really need it. For this reason, we have created a system where we collect donations from individuals and companies, provide assistance to financially unable clients, and provide treatment at low cost. We think of it as a company or social device that contributes to correcting disparities through trauma treatment. In recent years, the need for trauma treatment has been increasing, with cases of students not attending school due to minor interpersonal problems. Even adults who appear to be working normally and living a normal social life are often actually suffering from trauma. From these perspectives, we would like to provide trauma treatment and counseling under the "trauma care for everyone" philosophy. We also conduct trauma treatment training and work to increase the number of trauma therapists. We appreciate your cooperation. February 28, 2024 Representative Atsunori Sugimoto
